4. Buy less, shop often.
While I wish I could have seven different types of mustards decorating my refrigerator shelf, the fact of the matter is that I don’t have the room. My veggie drawer has room for lettuce, a cucumber, and some peppers, even though I wish I could add radicchio and fennel to the mix.
Because I lack food storage space in my kitchen, I do several small grocery runs throughout the week instead of one big haul on Sunday. Changes in space force us to adapt our behavior (and force the habit of buying less), but shopping often is one that I had to adopt when I moved into my space. Thankfully, I love shopping for groceries and I find that this offers me more creativity and spontaneity in my cooking practice.
